Terms of service
1. ABOUT US
1.1 MrGoodLuck.co.uk (the "Website") is operated by Black Ridge Limited, a private company limited by shares incorporated in Gibraltar under company number 126464, whose registered office is at 269 Main Street, Gibraltar, GX11 1AA ("MrGoodLuck", "the Company", "we", "us" or "our").
1.2 We run online prize competitions through the Website. We currently offer two categories of competition: "Skill Competitions", which require the entrant to answer a qualifying question correctly before their entry counts, and "Free Entry Competitions", which carry no entry fee at all. Both are referred to individually as a "Competition" and together as the "Competitions".
2. ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS
2.1 These terms and conditions, together with any rules published for a specific Competition ("Competition Rules") and any terms published for a specific promotion ("Promotional Terms"), form a single set of terms (together, the "Terms") that govern your relationship with us.
2.2 The Terms apply whenever you browse or use the Website, register an account, buy an entry into a Competition, take part in a promotion, win a prize, or otherwise interact with any product, feature or service we make available (the "Services").
2.3 Some Competitions are subject to their own Competition Rules, published on the relevant Competition page, which sit alongside and supplement these Terms. Where we run a promotion — such as a discount code, bonus entry or limited-time offer — the applicable Promotional Terms will be published on the Website or sent to you directly.
2.4 If there is any conflict between these documents, the order of precedence is: Promotional Terms first, then Competition Rules, then these Terms.
2.5 By registering an account, buying an entry, or otherwise using the Services, you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree with any part of them, you should not use the Services.
3. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
3.1 We may update these Terms from time to time, including to reflect a change in the law, a change to how the Services operate, or for other legitimate business reasons. Where a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in advance — for example by email or by a notice on the Website — before the change takes effect.
3.2 We recommend that you check this page periodically. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept a change, you should stop using the Services and close your account.
4. ELIGIBILITY
4.1 The Services are aimed at, and intended to be used by, people who are permanently resident in the United Kingdom.
4.2 You must be at least 18 years old to open an account or enter a Competition. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or over and that you have the legal capacity to be bound by these Terms.
4.3 Directors, officers, employees, contractors and agents of the Company, and of any other company in the same corporate group, may not enter any Competition, whether directly or through someone else. This restriction extends to their close relatives (including spouses, partners, parents, children, step-children and siblings) and to anyone else living in the same household. Any entry made in breach of this clause is invalid and will be void.
4.4 You must not use the Services in a way that would break any law that applies to you, wherever you are based. We are not responsible for, and accept no liability arising from, your use of the Services in breach of a law applicable to you. If you are unsure whether you are permitted to use the Services from your location, you should stop using them and take your own advice. In addition, the Services must not be accessed from any jurisdiction subject to UK, EU or UN trade sanctions or export restrictions, or from any jurisdiction where online prize competitions of this kind are unlawful.
4.5 Where we discover that an entry, account, prize or Ticket (as defined below) was obtained in breach of this clause 4, we may treat the relevant entries as void and take any of the steps described in clause 6.
5. LICENCE TO USE THE WEBSITE
5.1 We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the Website and the Services for your own private, non-commercial use, on condition that you comply with these Terms. You must not copy, adapt, decompile, reverse-engineer, frame, scrape or create derivative works from any part of the Website, nor sell, sub-license, rent or otherwise pass on any right to use it, without our prior written permission.
5.2 All content on the Website — including text, graphics, logos, images, video, software and its underlying code — belongs to us or to our licensors and is protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of that content to you, and your use of the Services does not give you any right in it beyond what is expressly set out here.
6. AVAILABILITY OF THE SERVICES
6.1 We aim to keep the Website running smoothly and to operate the Services with reasonable skill and care, but we do not promise that the Website will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or free of errors or viruses. You are responsible for arranging whatever equipment and internet connection you need to access the Services.
6.2 We aim to award every prize to the entrant who is genuinely entitled to it. If a technical fault, human error or system malfunction causes a prize to be awarded to the wrong person, we may reclaim it and award it to the correct winner. If a prize is mistakenly sent to you, you must tell us as soon as you become aware of the error, look after the prize in the meantime, and return it to us in the condition you received it within 14 days of us asking you to. We will cover your reasonable costs of returning it.
6.3 We may make technical changes to the Services at any time, including to fix bugs, improve security or comply with the law. Where practical we will give you advance notice of changes that affect how you use the Services, though some changes may need to take effect immediately.
6.4 We may suspend, restrict or close your account, and remove your access to the Services, immediately and without notice if you breach these Terms (including the prohibited activities listed in clause 7), or otherwise on reasonable notice. Where we reasonably suspect a breach, we may suspend your account while we look into it; you agree to cooperate with any such review. If we conclude, acting reasonably, that a breach has occurred, we may close your account permanently, withhold or reclaim any prize, and share relevant information with law enforcement or regulatory bodies where appropriate.
6.5 Where your account is closed because of something you have done in breach of these Terms, we may void any entries or prizes connected with that breach.
6.6 We may also suspend, restrict or close an account on reasonable grounds relating to fair treatment of customers or the integrity of the Services — for example, where information available to us suggests that continued play may not be in your interests. We will act proportionately in doing so, and nothing in this clause requires us to monitor individual customers.
7. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES
7.1 When using the Services, you must not, and must not help or encourage anyone else to:
(a) act fraudulently, dishonestly or unlawfully, or engage in collusion or cheating of any kind;
(b) give false, inaccurate or misleading information when registering or using your account;
(c) open or use more than one account;
(d) let someone else use your account, or use or attempt to use another person's account;
(e) interfere with, disrupt, attack or gain unauthorised access to the Website or any related systems, or introduce viruses, malware or other harmful code;
(f) use any device, bot, script or automated process that interferes with the normal operation of the Services;
(g) bypass, disable or interfere with any security feature of the Website;
(h) use artificial intelligence tools, scrapers or other automated means to extract data from the Website;
(i) collect or store personal information about other users;
(j) build software or connect to the Website via an API without our prior written consent;
(k) do anything that we reasonably consider objectionable, that stops others enjoying the Services, or that could expose us to harm or liability;
(l) enter a Competition while under 18, in breach of clause 4.2;
(m) enter a Competition in breach of clause 4.3 or 4.4, including by using a VPN or similar tool to disguise your true location;
(n) abuse or harass our staff; or
(o) post or send us any comment or content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, abusive, threatening, discriminatory or otherwise objectionable.
8. YOUR MRGOODLUCK ACCOUNT
8.1 To use the Services you need to register an account with us via the Website ("MrGoodLuck Account"). Your email address acts as your username, and only one email address may be linked to an account at any time.
8.2 You may only hold one MrGoodLuck Account. If you open more than one, we may close the additional accounts and void any prizes won through them, and you must return any prize already delivered to you in accordance with clause 6.2. Your account is for your own personal use only; it must not be used on behalf of anyone else.
8.3 You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity on your account. You must give us accurate and complete information and tell us promptly if any of it changes.
8.4 Every Competition entry is paid for individually at the point you make it. We do not currently operate a stored account balance or wallet: there are no funds held with us on your behalf, and there is nothing to withdraw. Any promotional credit, free entry or discount we award you (for example, as part of a promotion) can only be used towards the cost of an entry and has no cash value; it is not held as a balance and cannot be withdrawn.
8.5 You may close your account at any time, but you remain responsible for anything done through it up to the point of closure.
8.6 An account that has not been logged into for 12 consecutive months will be treated as dormant. We may archive a dormant account, and any unused promotional credit attached to it will lapse. If you log back in after a period of dormancy, we may ask you to reconfirm your details (including your phone number) before you can continue using the Services.
9. CUSTOMER VERIFICATION AND SECURITY
9.1 We may carry out identity, age and address verification checks at any point, including before paying out a prize, and we may ask you to provide documents such as photo ID or proof of address for this purpose.
9.2 If you do not provide satisfactory documentation within a reasonable time, we may take any of the following steps, as appropriate: suspend or close your account; withhold or void a prize; remove you from any active Competition; and, where we have genuine cause for concern, report the matter to the relevant authorities.
9.3 We may also ask you to verify your mobile number, and some features (including prize payment) may be unavailable until you have done so.
9.4 We take reasonable steps to detect and prevent fraud, money laundering and other financial crime affecting the Services, and we may decline to process a payment or prize where we have genuine grounds for concern.
10. COMPETITION ENTRY
10.1 You can enter a Competition online through the Website by buying a Ticket, by using a promotional credit or voucher, or — for Competitions where we offer it — by Free Postal Entry (see clause 11.3). "Ticket" means a paid entry into a Competition. We may run more than one Competition at a time, each with its own prize and entry method, details of which are set out on the relevant Competition page.
10.2 A Competition may have a maximum number of entries available. Where that is the case, the Competition closes once the maximum is reached or the Promotion Period (defined in clause 12.1) ends, whichever happens first, and we will show an indication of remaining entries on the Competition page.
10.3 We may adjust the entry requirements or format of a Competition, and may run Competitions under different names, provided we do so consistently with these Terms.
10.4 We may refuse or disqualify an incomplete entry. If we reasonably believe you have materially breached these Terms, we may void your entry and you will not be entitled to a refund of any fee paid for it.
10.5 Once submitted, an entry becomes ours and, to the extent permitted by law, will not be returned to you.
11. HOW TO ENTER
11.1 Skill Competitions. Each Ticket you buy for a Skill Competition entitles you to answer one multiple-choice question on-screen. You choose the answer you believe is correct from the options given; your chosen answer is registered as your entry. You may buy as many Tickets, and make as many entries, as you like up to the Competition Entry Limit (defined in clause 11.4), but each Ticket only counts once, and the same answer applies to all Tickets bought for that question.
11.2 Free Entry Competitions. Free Entry Competitions carry no entry fee and cannot be entered by post. We may award free entries at our discretion — for example, when you first register an account, or as part of a promotion. Any promotional credit you are awarded can be used to enter any Competition in the same way as a paid Ticket, subject to any conditions published with that credit.
11.3 Free Postal Entry (AMOE). For any Competition where we offer it, you may choose to enter by post instead of by paying for a Ticket, up to the Competition Entry Limit. Other than the cost of a stamp, there is no charge for postal entry, and a postal entry has exactly the same chance of winning as a paid entry.
To enter by post you must have an active MrGoodLuck Account, and send a handwritten postcard or letter (typed or mechanically produced entries are not accepted) to:
MrGoodLuck.co.uk – Free Entry
Black Ridge Limited
1A Europa Road
Gibraltar
GX11 1AA
Gibraltar
Each entry must clearly state: your full name; your postal address, including postcode; your telephone number; the email address registered to your MrGoodLuck Account; the name of the Competition you are entering; and, where the Competition requires you to pick a prize option in advance, your chosen prize.
Each item of post must carry its own first or second-class stamp and must be posted (not hand-delivered) so that it reaches us within the Promotion Period; a postmark dated outside the Promotion Period will not be accepted. Only one entry is allowed per envelope — bulk entries in a single envelope will be rejected, although you may send as many separate envelopes as you wish, up to the Competition Entry Limit.
Your postal entry is not confirmed until we acknowledge it by email or it appears in your MrGoodLuck Account. We process valid postal entries on business days as soon as reasonably practicable, and every valid postal entry is included in the same draw as paid Tickets for that Competition. Entries that do not meet the requirements above will be treated as invalid.
11.4 Entry Limits. The maximum number of entries you may make into a single Competition ("Competition Entry Limit") is shown on the relevant Competition page. Once you reach it, you cannot make any further entries into that Competition.
11.5 Payments. Ticket prices are set by us and shown at the point of purchase and on the Competition page. Payment must be made using one of the methods offered on the Website; your bank or card provider may apply its own charges, which are your responsibility. Your entry is only confirmed once payment has cleared and the entry appears in your MrGoodLuck Account. Except where these Terms say otherwise, a Ticket that has been used to enter a Competition cannot be refunded, exchanged or cancelled.
Where a prize is paid in a currency other than GBP at the winner's request, the amount will be converted using the exchange rate in effect at the time of payment, and any conversion or transfer charges applied by the payment provider will be deducted from the amount paid.
12. PROMOTION PERIODS
12.1 Each Competition runs for a defined period, shown on the Competition page (the "Promotion Period").
12.2 Where postal entry is available for a Competition, the Promotion Period is identical for postal entries and paid Tickets.
13. THE DRAW
13.1 Once the Promotion Period for a Competition ends, we select the winner from all valid entries received during that period using a certified random number generator. For Skill Competitions, only entrants who answered the qualifying question correctly go into the draw. We may run the draw live or through an automated system, but in every case the winning entry is chosen at random from the eligible pool.
13.2 Notifying winners. We use the contact details held on your account to get in touch if you are selected ("Potential Winner"). It is your responsibility to keep these details accurate and up to date; we are not responsible for any failure to reach you caused by incorrect details on file.
If we are unable to contact a Potential Winner within 5 days of a Competition closing (a period we may extend at our discretion), or the Potential Winner does not accept the prize within 30 days of it appearing in their account (or of us successfully making contact), or is disqualified for breaching these Terms, or fails to provide any outstanding information we need within 10 days of being asked (a period we may extend), then the prize is treated as forfeited and the entry becomes void, with no further claim available to that Potential Winner. Where this happens we may, at our discretion, draw an alternative winner, roll the prize into a future Competition, or withdraw it altogether. We have no further liability to a Potential Winner once a prize has been forfeited in this way.
13.3 We may extend the closing date of a Competition where something outside our reasonable control affects its running properly — for example a computer virus, network fault, software bug, fraud or unauthorised interference. We may also cancel, pause or amend a Competition, or void affected entries, giving notice where we reasonably can. If we close a Competition early, we will pick a winner from the valid entries received up to that point, unless we decide instead to close it without selecting a winner — in which case entrants will be given a free entry of equivalent value to use in a later Competition.
14. WINNERS
14.1 Every Potential Winner must confirm their date of birth, and for some Competitions or prizes we may also ask for documents to verify identity, age or eligibility, and require a signed form before releasing a prize. We may ask for the same where we have reasonable grounds to suspect fraud or another breach of these Terms. Failure to provide what we reasonably ask for may mean the Potential Winner is disqualified and an alternative winner is selected.
14.2 We may also ask a Potential Winner for a photograph to help confirm their identity.
14.3 Once we have received and checked the information above, we will arrange delivery or collection of the prize with the Winner. Where a Competition allows a choice between prize options, the Winner selects their preference through their MrGoodLuck Account.
14.4 It is the Winner's responsibility to make sure any bank, payment or delivery details they give us are correct. We are not liable for any loss, delay or misdirected prize caused by incorrect or incomplete details supplied by the Winner.
14.5 Correspondence between us and a Potential Winner or Winner — including the prize amount and any cash alternative — is confidential, and the Winner agrees not to share it with anyone else, except where disclosure is required by law, already public, or we agree to it in writing.
15. COMPETITION PRIZES
15.1 Where a Competition advertises more than one prize, only one main prize (the "Competition First Prize") is awarded per Competition, unless the Competition page says otherwise.
15.2 Where a Competition requires the entrant to choose a prize option in advance and no choice has been made by the end of the Promotion Period, that entry is disqualified from the relevant draw.
15.3 Winners are responsible for any tax, duty or expense arising from accepting, owning or using a prize, unless we have specifically agreed to cover it.
15.4 Our maximum liability in respect of any Competition First Prize is the advertised value of that prize. Where we source a replacement vehicle or item, we will only deal with manufacturer-approved dealers or suppliers.
15.5 If, for reasons outside our reasonable control, we are unable to provide the advertised Competition First Prize, we may instead pay a cash sum equal to 100% of its advertised value, rounded to the nearest £100.
15.6 Every prize is also subject to any terms imposed by its manufacturer or supplier, must be accepted as offered, and cannot be exchanged, transferred or combined with any other offer, discount or voucher.
15.7 Vehicle prizes. Where the prize is a vehicle, we will state on the Competition page whether it is new or used. Vehicles will normally be available for immediate collection, subject to standard pre-delivery checks, and will be sourced from UK dealers as right-hand-drive models. Vehicles must be collected from a location we specify in the UK; if the Winner is not in the UK, they must either arrange to collect it there or take the cash alternative described in clause 15.9. No insurance, road tax or servicing costs are included, and it is the Winner's responsibility to arrange and pay for these before driving the vehicle.
15.8 Property prizes. Where the prize is a property, entrants are responsible for their own enquiries and due diligence about the prize, their eligibility to enter, and their right to own or occupy it (including in the relevant country, where different from the UK). The Winner must sign whatever contract is needed to transfer ownership, on the terms we or the seller set, within a reasonable time; if they are unable or unwilling to do so, the prize is treated as forfeited and may be reallocated under clause 13.2. Completion timescales cannot be guaranteed, though we will act reasonably to progress the transfer.
15.9 Cash alternative. Where a Winner does not want to take delivery or collection of a prize in the UK (other than a cash prize itself), the only alternative available is a cash payment equal to the advertised value of the prize ("Cash Alternative"), details of which will be available in the Winner's MrGoodLuck Account.
15.10 Unclaimed prizes. A prize not claimed within 30 days of the Winner being notified is treated as forfeited, and we have no further obligation in respect of it. We will make reasonable efforts to remind Winners of an unclaimed prize, but are not obliged to extend the claim period.
16. INSTANT WIN PRIZES
16.1 We may run "Instant Win" prizes alongside a Competition's main draw. The number and value of Instant Win prizes may change during a Competition, and Instant Win entry is only available while that Competition is open.
16.2 There is no extra charge to take part in an Instant Win draw. Every paid Ticket and every valid postal entry into a qualifying Competition is automatically entered, at no additional cost, and Ticket prices are the same whether or not Instant Wins are attached to that Competition.
16.3 Instant Win winners are selected separately from the main Competition winner, using a certified random number generator applied to all qualifying entries, or by reference to a set of winning entry positions determined at random before the Competition goes live and matched against the order in which entries are received.
16.4 Cash Instant Win prizes are paid directly to the Winner using the payment details they provide, following the standard verification steps in clauses 9 and 14. Non-cash Instant Win prizes (for example, electronics or holidays) will be arranged within 21 days of receiving the Winner's delivery details, subject to availability, and — other than for vehicle prizes, which are collection-only as set out in clause 15.7 — a Cash Alternative equal to the advertised value is available if requested. Physical Instant Win prizes are shipped to UK addresses only; a Winner outside the UK may either give us a UK delivery address in writing or take the Cash Alternative instead.
17. REFER A FRIEND
17.1 We may, at our discretion, run a "Refer a Friend" scheme rewarding customers who introduce genuine new customers to MrGoodLuck.co.uk. Where we do, the terms of that scheme — including any reward, its value and any conditions attached to it — will be published on the relevant page of the Website.
18. DELIVERY AND COLLECTION OF PRIZES
18.1 We will hold a prize free of charge for 30 days after telling the Winner they have won. If the Winner does not collect a vehicle, or accept delivery of any other prize, within that time, they lose their right to the prize, to any alternative, and to any other compensation.
18.2 Where a prize cannot reasonably be sent by standard courier, the Winner is responsible for arranging its collection or delivery and for any cost involved. As set out in clause 15.7, vehicle prizes are always collection-only.
19. PUBLICITY
19.1 A Winner may be asked to provide, or pose for, photographs or video, which we may use in marketing and PR relating to the Competition and to show that a genuine prize was awarded.
19.2 For transparency, we may publish limited details of a Winner — such as their first name, general location and photograph — in a "Winners" section of the Website. If you would prefer this information not to be published, tell us in writing; note, however, that we may still need to share your details with regulators (such as the Advertising Standards Authority) or law enforcement if lawfully required to do so.
20. IF YOU BREACH THESE TERMS
20.1 To the extent the law allows, you agree to reimburse us for any reasonable losses, costs or expenses we suffer as a result of your breach of these Terms, and we may take the lead on defending or settling any related third-party claim.
21. LIABILITY
21.1 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
21.2 If we fail to meet these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of that failure or of our negligence, but not for loss that was not foreseeable to both of us when you entered the relevant Competition.
21.3 Subject to clause 21.1, our total liability to you for any one incident, or a connected series of incidents, is limited to: (a) the cash value of the prize, where the claim relates to a Competition you entered and won; (b) a free replacement entry into another Competition, where the claim relates to a lost, undelivered or unprocessed entry caused by a technical fault; or (c) £100 in any other case.
21.4 Subject to your statutory rights and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from: your own breach of these Terms; misuse of the Services by other users; delay in delivering a prize; a prize being cancelled or reclaimed under these Terms; a computer, network, hardware or software fault or malfunction beyond our reasonable control; events outside our reasonable control (including third-party service failures, your equipment, unauthorised access to your data, or events such as war, terrorism, riot, fire, flood or a change in the law); or damage to your own equipment from using the Services, except where that damage is caused by our failure to take reasonable care, in which case we will repair the damage or pay reasonable compensation.
21.5 Only the entry and order records held in our own systems will be treated as your entry into a Competition, whatever is displayed elsewhere; we are not responsible for entries affected by a fault in software we do not control. You can check your entries at any time in your MrGoodLuck Account.
21.6 We do not exclude or limit our liability in any way that would be unlawful.
22. YOUR PERSONAL DATA
22.1 Any personal data you give us, or that we obtain about you from a third party (such as a payment provider), is used to run the Services and, where relevant, deliver prizes. Full details of how we collect, use and protect your data are set out in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, published on the Website.
23. COMPLAINTS
23.1 If you are unhappy with any part of the Services, please contact us using the details in clause 24 and we will deal with your complaint promptly and in accordance with our published Complaints Policy.
24. CONTACT US
24.1 You can reach us by:

25. GENERAL LEGAL TERMS
25.1 Governing law. These Terms, and everything relating to the Services, are governed by the law of England and Wales.
25.2 Jurisdiction. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Services.
25.3 No partnership. Nothing in these Terms, or your use of the Services, creates any partnership, joint venture, agency or employment relationship between you and us.
25.4 Notices. Any notice you need to give us under these Terms must be in writing and sent to the address in clause 24.1.
25.5 Assignment. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another person or company, with or without telling you. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms, and any attempt to do so is void.
25.6 Third parties. These Terms are for your benefit and ours only; they do not give any other person a right to enforce them, except as set out in clause 25.5.
25.7 Interpretation. Headings are for convenience only and do not affect how these Terms are interpreted. Where we say "including", we mean "including but not limited to".
25.8 Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unlawful or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply in full, and the affected part will be read down so as to reflect its original intent as closely as the law allows.
25.9 No waiver. If we do not enforce a right or provision under these Terms on one occasion, that does not stop us enforcing it later.
25.10 Entire agreement. These Terms (together with any Competition Rules and Promotional Terms) are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services, and replace any earlier agreement, discussion or understanding on the same subject.
